Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Recycling discarded or waste electrical equipment is becoming an increasingly specialised task as the range and complexity of products on the market continues to grow. At AKS Skip Hire, we make the recovery and recycling of such items our first priority, serving communities in Norwich and throughout Norfolk by taking away useful and potentially hazardous materials and disposing them in an environmentally friendly manner.

The need for recycling electrical and electronic equipment has never been greater – in fact, it is estimated that between 1 and 2 million tonnes of electrical waste is produced in the UK every year, representing a colossal waste of space, energy and resources.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations

AKS Skip Hire is committed to keeping landfill usage in Norwich to an absolute minimum, and recycling waste electrical equipment is at the core of this mission. This covers anything that uses a battery, plug or remote to operate, and includes a broad range of items commonly found in homes throughout Norwich and the UK.

We can handle equipment such as:

  • Large Household Appliances – fridges, freezers, cookers, microwaves, dishwashers and washing machines
  • Small Household Appliances – toasters, irons, vacuum cleaners and more
  • Telecommunications and Information Technology – PCs, mobile phones, pocket calculators
  • Consumer Items – radios, televisions and light bulbs

Our Waste Electrical Equipment service is governed by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations that came into force in January 2007, which aim to reduce the amount of waste produced by UK households and businesses from ending up in landfill.

AKS Skip Hire operates a collection service from homes throughout Norwich to our waste transfer station, with treatment and recycling operations for any type of item or household appliance. Our service also includes fridge / freezer collection from £35 per unit.
