The site in Waterbeach began as a base for skip hire services. It then became an unlicensed waste disposal site resulting in tonnes of waste been illegally dumped.
The man held responsible was ordered to pay £5,600 in costs and given a suspended sentence.
Magistrates were told that mixed commercial and construction/demolition waste was illegally stored at a site in the village despite advice given. Having ignored warnings from Environment Agency officers, two stop notices were placed on the company but Daniel Lee Crockwell; aged 35 still continued with his actions.
He agreed to clear the site by February 16, 2017 but failed to do so and eventually the landowners took control of the site and cleared it themselves. Eventually Crockwell was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for two years.
