Prohibited Materials
For safety, environmental, and legal reasons, certain items must not be placed inside your hired skip. Disposing of the following materials in a skip is strictly prohibited:
- Asbestos – This is a hazardous material and requires specialist removal.
- Batteries – Includes car batteries and household types, due to harmful chemicals.
- Clinical or Medical Waste – Including syringes, dressings, or any waste generated by medical treatment.
- TVs and Computer Monitors – These contain components that must be handled separately from general waste.
- Fridges and Freezers – These contain refrigerants that are harmful to the environment.
- Fluorescent Tubes – These can contain mercury and must be disposed of properly.
- Liquids – Including fuels, chemicals, or any type of fluid.
- Tyres – Require special processing and cannot be disposed of in a skip.
- Gas Bottles or Cylinders – These pose a fire and explosion risk.
- Hazardous or Toxic Materials – Such as chemicals, pesticides, or poisons.
- Oil – Including engine oil or cooking oil.
- Paint and Paint Cans – Unless completely empty and dried out.
- Plasterboard – Cannot be mixed with general waste.
- Solvents – These are flammable and hazardous.
- Food Waste – Skips are not suitable for perishable or decomposing waste.
- Sofas, Armchairs, or Upholstered Furniture – Due to recent changes in waste regulations (including POPs compliance).
